Diesel Diagnostic Specialists

As more and more people are discovering, many regular garages are more than able to deal with servicing and routine repairs of most makes and models of petrol engine, when it comes to diesel engines many lack the expertise to be comfortable with the latest common rail diesel engines. The latest diesel engines (many from about 2002 model year) now work with very complex computer controlled, Common Rail, diesel injection systems running at very high pressures (up to 10,000psi) and require specialist equipment and techniques to diagnose even simple faults, never mind the complex ones we regularly see.

The latest diesel engines (many from about 2002 model year) now work with very complex computer controlled, Common Rail, diesel injection systems running at very high pressures (up to 10,000psi) and require specialist equipment and techniques to diagnose even simple faults, never mind the complex ones we regularly see.

We Diagnose & Solve Diesel Problems

We are working with diesel engines most days, from non starting vehicles to the more difficult intermittent problems often experienced by many owners. Whatever the problem you have our experts have the skills tools and just as important all the relevant data to enable speedy diagnosis of most problems within an hour.

In-House Skills and Equipment

We have both the specialist skills and equipment to diagnose faults and problems with all makes and models of diesel cars and light commercial vehicles, naturally aspirated and Turbo Diesel. We are able to identify and test diesel components on the vehicle, this allows us to be 100% certain that we identify and repair only the part or component that is causing the problem.

We are able to test and prove both traditional and common rail injectors, we have ultrasonic injector cleaning and testing equipment and can always test common rail diesel injectors without removing them from the engine, saving valuable time and avoiding potential problems with seized injectors.

Fuel pressure problems can be identified utilising the very latest oscilloscopes using proven procedures. This applies to both low pressure or in-tank pumps and high pressure pumps.

We utilise the very latest technology in smoke generators to test the full induction system, including all pipework, intercoolers and vacuum pipes and actuators for leaks. We also use the same techniques to check for leaks on other parts of the vehicle including the exhaust system.

Common rail diesel systems rely upon increasingly complex and seemingly complicated electronics to control the fuelling, timing and pressures, in addition to all the other components such as EGR valves, Wastegates, Intercoolers, Turbochargers, boost pressure sensors, rail pressure sensors, rail pressure actuators a seemingly endless list of components and electronics that often seem to have been introduced to make the systems seem more prone to failure and too complicated.

Fortunately as Diesel Specialists we have all the knowledge, vehicle manufacturers data and tools necessary to positively test, diagnose and repair all manner of problems on diesel cars and light commercial vehicles.

Diesel Diagnostics on our Rolling Road

We are the only Diesel Diagnostic Specialists in the UK with a 4 wheel rolling road, this allows us to road-test cars and vans in the workshop at the same time we can be monitoring all parameters on the vehicle. We make full use of our dealer diagnostics equipment, our range of oscilloscopes and logging equipment. This broad range of equipment allows us to find and fix problems that other workshops don't stand a a chance of finding

DPF Filters or DPF Systems (Diesel Particulate Filters)

It has become increasingly common for vehicle manufacturers to instal DPF filters into the exhaust system on diesel engined vehicles in an attempt to reduce vehicle emissions, particularly the soot content. Unfortunately while happy to fit DPF's to vehicles the manufacturers, dealers and salesmen were not as forthcoming with warnings about the fact that vehicles fitted with DPF's need to operate in a mixed drive cycle, too much driving around the town or city and the next thing you know the DPF warning light comes on to say there is a fault and often the car goes into limp mode.

We are seeing a huge increase in the number of vehicles that we see with DPF faults and problems, unfortunately this often comes after the owners have had their normal garage replace the DPF Filter (at huge expense) and other parts often unnecessarily.

There is a lot more to DPF Systems than is often understood, simple things like a lack of DPF or Eolys fluid, failure of something as simple as a filler cap sensor can all cause the DPF system to stop functioning.

We are able to diagnose all manner of DPF faults and perform resets and forced regeneration on all makes and models, often saving thousands for pounds for their delighted owners.

If a DPF warning is indicated dont delay, waiting can cause further more costly problems,  get the car to someone who can identify and solve the problem as soon as possible. We can repair DPF or Diesel Particulate Filter equipped vehicles and do so on a daily basis. We can often clean blocked DPF filters on the car, sometimes they need to be removed to be cleaned if they are causing a high restriction. We can also top up and regenerate DPF system with Eolys or the recommended fluid and for a range of vehicles remove the DPF from both the vehicle and the ECU by reprogramming the ECU.

Contact us to see how we can help you with the DPF or Diesel Particulate Filter system on your car or light commercial vehicle.
